WHY SKYE PHYSIOTHERAPY?
SKYE Physiotherapy offers a one-on-one experience. If you have had any therapy in the last few years, you may realize how rare that is these days. Each visit is as long as it needs to be up to 80 minutes long. We will never short-change you and will not waste your time. Notes might be taken during your session but your doctor will not have his face in the computer. Their eyes will be on you, focusing on things that matter like your technique and form. You will have undivided attention, which makes visits more effective and reduce the overall number of visits you need.
We offer emergency PRN (or as needed) visits. Just to clarify, we are not talking about a 911 level emergency but a PT emergency. If you wake up and your back is in excruciating pain and you can’t move, or you need to call out of work because your shoulder is in too much pain, your doctor can see you that day. We can see you on your worst days. This is one of the greatest benefits of SKYE Physiotherapy.
DO I NEED A DOCTOR’S REFERRAL?
No, because Maryland is a direct access state. This means that you, as a client, can be evaluated and treated by a licensed physical therapist without having to first see your physician for a referral.
DO YOU TAKE INSURANCE?
At SKYE Physiotherapy, we prioritize providing the best quality care to our clients. To maintain this level of care, we have chosen to operate as an out-of-network practice and do not accept insurance. By doing so, we are able to focus solely on your needs without being dictated by insurance companies. Being out-of-network shifts the power of the insurance companies to you and allows you to receive optimal care, as determined by you and your provider. Many patients choose to receive services out of network in order to see the physical therapist of their choice. SKYE Physiotherapy will be happy to verify your out-of-network benefits and submit reimbursement claims on behalf of you to reduce your cost. This model also allows for the physical therapist to solely dedicate his time to the most important person of all: you, the client.
In many cases, the out of pocket expenses for a course of physical therapy will actually be less for services provided at SKYE Physiotherapy. For example, clients with high deductibles will typically pay much less than they would at a standard insurance-based clinic until that deductible is met. In large part, this is due to the ability to charge less per visit, with these charges being well below the national average charge submitted to insurance in a typical in network outpatient practice. SKYE Physiotherapy can charge less because the simplified cash-based fee structure streamlines billing and does not require hiring billing personnel or paying fees to a third party billing service. This allows SKYE Physiotherapy to focus all energy on patient care, and also allows patients to make informed decisions regarding the costs of their health care choices.

Please read this article to learn how out-of-network reimbursement works.
WHAT IS OUT-OF-NETWORK DEDUCTIBLE?
This is the amount of money you have to pay before you are eligible for reimbursement. Let's say your out-of-network deductible is $1,000, and your insurance company pays for 100% of services after you meet that amount. That means you'll have to pay $1,000 out of pocket, after which you'll have "met your deductible." In this scenario, if you spend $1,500 on therapy services, you'll have to pay $1,000 out of pocket, but the remaining $500 will be reimbursed to you in the form of a check typically within 4-5 weeks after your session. Deductibles reset every calendar year, and any health expense you pay out-of-pocket contributes to meeting it.
WHAT IS CO-INSURANCE?
This is the percentage of the service fee that you're ultimately responsible for paying. Let's say your therapist charges $100 per session. If you coinsurance is 25%, you're only responsible for paying $25. (Note: You'll need to pay the full $100 upfront. Your insurance will send you a check of $75 after the session, once you've met the deductible.)
WHAT TO WEAR TO PHYSICAL THERAPY?
Ensure you put on clothing you can move freely in. One way to figure out if you’re wearing the proper attire is to ask yourself if you’d wear what you have on to the gym. Proper physical therapy attire includes: loose-fitting tank tops, loose t-shirts, athletic shorts, workout pants/training pants, and proper undergarments. Please prepare a quiet space for your therapist to set up a mobile treatment table. Please provide a pillow and towel for your use.
Each visit is individually centered around achieving your movement goals. Each session is tailored to how you are presenting that day and what your body can tolerate on that specific day. We also recognize that as you make improvements, your goals will change and you will want to work on other facets of your health, which we can continue to shape and mold your plan of care together. This is your health care and we want to ensure you are maximizing your potential. Let us serve you.
